V-mount vs. Gold mount: What's the Difference?
Both power professional cinema gear, but they use different locking mechanisms:
V-Mount: Uses a push-down V-lock wedge. It is globally adopted, highly compatible, and budget-friendly.
Gold Mount (3-Stud): Uses a side-sliding 3-stud system favored in American broadcast TV for its extreme mechanical locking strength.
How Long Do V-Mount Batteries Last?
V-mount battery life depends on a number of factors, including cell type, brand quality, frequency of use, charging and discharging methods, and maintenance. Generally speaking, under normal use, V batteries can be used for about 300~500 cycles and can last for 2-5 years.
If you want to extend the life of your V-mount battery, you need to avoid over-discharging it and store it in a dry environment at 10-25°, all of which can help to slow down its depletion.
Can You Bring V-mount Batteries on Airplanes?
Yes, but only in carry-on bags (never checked):
Under 100Wh: Allowed in carry-ons without special approval.

How Do You Power a Mirrorless Camera?
Mount the V-battery on a baseplate attached to your camera cage or 15mm rods. Then, run a D-Tap to Dummy Battery cable (or a USB-C PD cable) from the battery directly into your camera's battery port or USB power input.
